Trent Seven and Kushida are gone from TNA.
According to PWInsider, the former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion had just wrapped up his stint with the company following the latest set of television tapings. Kushida originally signed with TNA in December 2023, and was allowed to work both TNA and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
The 41-year-old was working with the company since 2022, where he made his surprise debut on July 21, 2022 saving Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley. Kushida never won any titles during his time in TNA, but he was in the upper card mix as he’s competed for the Impact World and X-Division titles throughout his short stint.
Trent Seven also had a short stint in TNA. The former WWE star came into the company in 2023 as Mike Bailey’s tag team partner. Like Kushida, Seven never won any belts within the promotion, but he's had some solid on screen time in the mid card scene. It seemed as if TNA was going to give him a bigger push following the shocking heel turn against Bailey, but Seven actually finished up his run at Final Resolution.
Trent Seven and Kushida join Rhino on the list of talents leaving TNA Wrestling. Josh Alexander recently confirmed that he was going to explore free agency once his contract expires on February 1st. It’s also expected of Jordynne Grace to leave TNA once her contract ends in early January.
Dave Meltzer did reveal some news that likely played a big part in why Trent, Kushida, and Rhino decided to leave the promotion, “There may be more coming. One of the things that happened is a lot of the talent were asked to take pay cuts, I don’t know how many.”
Rhino, Trent Seven, and Kushida have yet to confirm the reasoning behind their decision to leave TNA. Trent Seven will still compete in the United Kingdom and Europe. Kushida is still heavily involved with New Japan. In fact, he’s coming off the Strong Style Evolved show where he was in a four-way match against Clark Connors, Kosei Fujita, and TJP.
Jordyne Grace is expected to sign with WWE. There’s also rumors that Josh Alexander is likely to sign with WWE as well. Those rumors were only fueled even further when Alexander announced his retirement from the indies several weeks ago.
