For the past few weeks, Aleister Black has been appearing in pre-taped promos begging the Superstars of
SmackDown Live to challenge him to a fight. While it's not currently clear what WWE has planned for him, his run in NXT was disappointingly brief and he's now revealed that his callup to the main roster was very much a last minute decision.
"I wasn't scheduled to be called up. It was a last minute decision," he reveals, pretty much confirming past reports that Vince McMahon calls Superstars up to RAW and SmackDown Live with no thought of what's happening in the developmental brand. "I was just done (with a workout) and it was 11:30 and I didn't have to be at the live event until 1:00. So, I was just going to take a 45-minute nap. I had my phone by me, and my phone starts to go off and its coach Bloom."
"He said, 'I have some news for you' and as a joke, I said ' you are firing me,'" he continued. "And he said, 'Something like that, this Sunday your flying to Tennessee (so the debut could be kept a secret) and this Monday you make your debut on Raw and Tuesday on SmackDown."
Black took part in some entertaining tag team bouts with Ricochet on RAW but it appears as if WWE isn't sure what to do with him now he's going solo on SmackDown Live. Time will tell.
