The TNA World Tag Team Championships have changed hands at TNA Slammiversary 2025 in a four-way ladder match that saw The Nemeths (alongside The Rascalz and Fir$t Cla$$) lose the titles to The Hardys. But how that went down and the title change is only half the story!
Match Details:
The Hardys had indicated ahead of time that if they were unable to win the titles, they would consider hanging up their boots, as it would be a sign that they've just lost their mojo, painting them as the sentimental favorites.
The Rascalz were down a normal member as Trey Miguel was replaced by Myron Reed, and First Class's KC Navarro was heading into the bout with an injury.
During the match, several fun spots took place including AJ Francis doing a moonsault off the ladder (and later, crotching himself on a ladder—yikes!) and all the ladders nearby being wrecked.
Jeff Hardy would ultimately climb a rope ladder that was dropped from the ceiling for an innovative way to win the titles.
But after that, as they were celebrating, Bully Ray's music hit and the legend came out.
Bully Ray touted the history that his Team 3D (Dudley Boyz) team alongside D-Von Dudley as well as The Hardy Boyz were able to achieve against each other as well as their successes away from each other, before putting out a challenge that they have one last match together at TNA Bound for Glory. The Hardys seemed receptive to the idea, so it seems it's official for October 12th.
Personal Reactions & What Happens Next?:
This seems kind of crazy to announce that match so many months in advance. Is anyone expected to beat Matt and Jeff for the tag titles now or what? Technically, it's not like anyone's going to care, as the fans will want to see this and will just wait for it. Plus, if they did lose the titles, they could still have the match.
I really thought both Dudley Boyz had reached more than one point each where they were done and no longer able to wrestle. If somehow, they're both able to, then that's awesome for them to be able to go have one more retirement scrap with one of their biggest rivals and all. Neat.
