At TNA Slammiversary 2025, history was made as Jacy Jayne put her NXT Women's Championship on the line against Masha Slamovich, who also had her TNA Knockouts World Championship up for grabs. This Winner Takes All title-for-title bout was inherently bound to create a first-time-ever situation by default, and we now know Jacy Jayne is on top of both women's divisions.
How did this go down tonight, what led to this, and what could be on the horizon? Let's break it all down!
How We Got Here:
Masha Slamovich defeated Jordynne Grace to win the Knockouts title at Bound for Glory on October 26, 2024. Jacy Jayne captured the NXT Women's Championship from Stephanie Vaquer just recently on the May 27th episode of NXT.
Jayne was being treated as many as a transitional champion, going so far as to be referred to on-air as "The Most Beatable Champion", only to retain her title against Grace at WWE Evolution (with a little help from Blake Monroe turning heel and helping her out).
Prior to that event, it was announced that this title-for-title match would take place, with Jayne shifting her focus to conquering the TNA roster and Slamovich getting a six-woman tag team win on this week's NXT.
Match Details:
Jacy Jayne was—as expected—accompanied by her stablemates from Fatal Influence: Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx. Slamovich had some backup of her own, but it wasn't enough to counteract some of the chaos going on.
That involved referee Paige Prinzivalli being taken out, resulting in a traditional scenario where Slamovich had a pinfall primed on Jayne, but with no referee to count it, the match continued.
Ultimately, Jayne was able to hit her Rolling Encore finisher to win the title.
Personal Reactions & What Happens Next?:
This is historic as the first-ever time someone from WWE has ever held a TNA title, as well as simultaneously held any kind of belt between those two companies at the same time. Strangely, it's the second double-champion of the NXT women's title this year after Stephanie Vaquer.
Once Jayne retained at Evolution, I figured she was winning this. TNA gains so much more out of having an NXT Superstar appear on their shows than the other way around.
I can't say Jayne would have been my first guess for who would be champion of both brands at this point in the year if you had polled me on New Year's Eve or something, but good for her! She was overlooked for a long time. It's nice to see her get her flowers.
I don't think this will be a long-term affair. By the end of Bound for Glory, at least, I anticipate she's dropped both titles. Again who is up in the air, as I would have thought Grace and Monroe were in line in NXT, and that seems to be on the back burner. I guess my prediction right now will be that Grace does come back around to it in NXT, and that Indi Hartwell is built up for that position in TNA.
