In a shocking moment last night at NJPW's Power Struggle, Chris Jericho confronted Kenny Omega! Jericho and Omega have been going back and forth on twitter seemingly to set up a match against one another, but everyone though it would be on Jericho's cruise that takes place in October 2018. However, once Omega defeated a game Trent Beretta, he immediately got on the mic before being interrupted by Y2J via titantron; who then challenged Omega for his IWGP United States title on January 4, 2018. Omega quickly accepted.
Jericho previously worked for New Japan Pro-Wrestling back in 1997 while under contract with WCW; first as the masked Super Liger which was intended to be a heel nemesis against the legendary Jushin "Thunder" Liger. However, the gimmick was dropped due to the execution being received so poorly, so he simply worked as Jericho.
What an exciting match up! One of the best wrestlers on the market today will face a true legend and one of the best wrestlers of all time! WRESTLE KINDOM 12 can't come quick enough!
