There have been rumblings about CM Punk going to All Elite Wrestling for months now but during a recent interview with ESPN, the one-time Best in the World made it clear that much of what's been said about his future in pro-wrestling has been massively blown out of proportion.
"No," he said when asked if he has a relationship with AEW. "I know they like to talk about me a lot. If I text Matt Jackson, “Hey, have a great show tonight,” which I did when they had their big show in Vegas, that somehow turns into Tony Khan telling people he has a great relationship with me. I’ve said in the past I’ve talked to them, but nothing ever came of anything."
Punk revealed that he received an offer by text around a month ago but doesn't think that texting offers is "good business." He added that he feels he can't really talk to people like Cody Rhodes because he's concerned that will find its way into interviews and pointed out that he's unsure why they talk about him so much.
He also told fans not to get their hopes up for an appearance at All Out. "I think if there’s an expectation, it’s purely been built by them. My silence to some fans means something. They’re trying to read the tea leaves, but there’s nothing to read. I even feel like talking about it may feel like I’m putting some sort of negative slant on it, but I’m really not. The fact is I know they’ve teased me ad nauseam, and if anybody is gonna get mad it’s at me because I don’t show up. Well then, I don’t know what to tell you. That’s one of those things that’s none of my business."
That seemingly puts an end to that once and for all then! Getting CM Punk to sign up to AEW in time for its weekly show would be a huge win for the company but it seemingly won't be happening.
