Former IMPACT X-Division Champion Doug Williams Announces His Retirement From Professional Wrestling

This past weekend saw the huge Progress Wrestling show, Hello Wembley, take place at the Wembley Arena. The show also marked the retirement of Doug Williams.

Williams defended his PROGRESS Atlas title against Trent Seven with the stipulation that if he lost then he would hang up his boots for good. Following his defeat, Williams had an emotional send-off from the entire locker room and crowd.

The British wrestler began his career back in 1993, mostly wrestling in his hometown in the United Kingdom. Williams did make appearances in Ring of Honor throughout the years, but American audiences will remember him for his time in Impact Wrestling where he was a part of a major stable called the British Invasion which was formed in 2009.

Williams managed to capture the X-Division, World tag team, and television title during his time in the company. He was released from the promotion in 2014. Since then, Williams has mostly been wrestling in UK based promotions such as Progress Wrestling.

The 46-year-old had this to say about his retirement:
