On August 30, Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) defeated Josh Bodom & Sha Samuels to earn a shot at the IWGP Tag Team titles. However, the match-up apparently didn’t end as planned as referee Aaren Wilde counted the pinfall earlier than planned.

The right team did go over, but the botch didn’t sit well with Bodom & Samuels as both men attacked Wilde in a unplanned spot:

Wilde states that he suffered shoulder and neck injuries from the assault, which have forced him to retire:

Samuels tries to defend himself regarding the attack and does admit to beating down Aaren Wilde; however, he claims that he did it safely as possible and provides video proof:

RevPro would ultimately address the controversy by putting out a lengthy statement confirming that the segment between Bodom, Samuels, and Wilde was indeed unplanned and that the company has stripped the duo of the Undisputed Tag Team Championships.

Samuels will "undertake internal disciplinary" and be under "zero tolerance" moving forward. Bodom has been released by the promotion.
