Shingo Takagi is officially no longer in the Junior Heavyweight division.

The former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion made his intentions to move to the heavyweight class clear following his win over Hirooki Goto on the final day of the B-Block G1 Climax tournament. While Takagi was fighting in the G1 Climax, which consisted of heavyweight wrestlers except Will Ospreay, the Los Ingobernables de Japon member never confirmed that he was moving up to the division long term.

Despite not winning the G1 Climax, Takagi got a key victory over NEVER Openweight Champion Tomohiro Ishii on Day 16 in the tournament, so while it’s not official that New Japan will ignite a feud between the two talents, it’s indeed possible that Takagi and Ishii will feud for the championship after the strong reception their fantastic match-up received.
