Light has finally been shed on why Major League Wrestling released Teddy Hart.
The former MLW World Middleweight Champion had actually requested his release from the company starting in late November; however, problems between the 39-year-old and MLW officials have been brewing for some time now.
According to
PWInsider, the issues began back in September, as Teddy Hart did not show up for his scheduled pre-tapes in Dallas, Texas. Also, the two-out-of-three-falls match that Hart competed in reportedly didn’t go as planned and Tom Prichard, who was the producer of the bout, almost quit the promotion due to Hart’s behavior.
There was also another incident where Hart no showed a co-promoted event with Mexico’s Crash Lucha Libre promotion. The former MLW World Middleweight Champion was advertised heavily for the event, with Hart set to compete in a six-man tag team match. This didn’t look good on MLW’s part, and the incident caused a riff between the two promotions. MLW and Crash are no longer working together.
Regarding his title match against Myron Reed, The Hart Foundation member reportedly did no favors for his opponent, as the match didn’t go as planned and many believe that Hart didn’t make Myron look good.
Teddy himself has said that he felt disrespected that Major League Wrestling did not show him support when he came out and address implications that he may have had something to do with his ex-girlfriend, Samantha Fiddler's, disappearance in the fall of 2016.
Teddy was one of the main staples of MLW since the company’s relaunch in 2017. As of now, the former MLW star appears to be in retirement, though Hart didn’t rule out a return to the ring in the future.
