Jazmyn Nyx turned down an NXT contract for financial reasons.
This past Tuesday, NXT ran a segment that saw The Fatal Influence member on the ground after being taken out by a mysterious attacker. Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley were there and they could care less about Nyx’s well being. “Only the strong survive” were Jacy’s parting words confirming that Nyx was out of Fatal Influence.
It was certainly a strange segment. WWE had been building tension between Fatal Influence for weeks, but nobody expected that payoff since the tension hasn't reached second gear yet. It turns out, Nyx’s NXT contract was ending and that was WWE’s way of writing her off television.
It seemed that WWE liked Nyx and according to several reports, the company did offer her a contract to re-sign, but Jazmyn turned it down for reasons that were still vague.
However, Jazmyn wanted to set the record straight on why she opted to not re-sign with WWE.
“As you know, there have been things circulating and I want to just set the record straight. I’m not re-signing with WWE. This was a personal decision I had to make for myself and my future. Personally, the contract that they were offering me for the next three years wasn’t going to cut it for me financially, and that’s okay."
Nyx never says how much the company was offering her, but she did respond to a fan who said that they thought that NXT wrestlers made $80,000-$150,000. She shut that down by claiming it would be a great amount to live off of.
Now the exact total has been confirmed. According to Sean Ross Sapp, the company offered Nyx $75,000 to re-sign, which was money from her previous contract. Now $75,000 is considered above average; however, wrestlers have to pay for travel, hotels, gear, etc, so that type of money would not be good enough for talent because it can eat up their wallet.
The report does state that the company wanted to keep the former NXT star, but they refused to budge on the price. It’s unknown how much Nyx was proposing as a counter offer. At the moment, she is a free agent so the former NXT star can pop up anywhere. Nyx hasn’t talked about whether her future will continue in professional wrestling, though it wouldn’t be a surprise if she ended up in TNA within a month or two.
