Drake Maverick managed to defeat KUSHIDA and Jake Atlas in last night's Interim Cruiserweight Championship Tournament semifinal triple-threat match, and will go on to face El Hijo Del Fantasma on next week's episode of NXT for the opportunity to achieve his dream of becoming Cruiserweight Champion.

Maverick's win was not without controversy, however. The former 205 Live GM pinned Atlas when KUSHIDA had him in the Hover-Board Lock, and a replay actually revealed that Jake tapped out just before Maverick made the cover.

Drake was fully prepared to have another match with KUSHIDA to erase any doubt, but during a backstage interview, the Japanese Superstar insisted that he take the win and go on to the finals. Maverick said that when he wins the title, he will give KUSHIDA the first shot.
