Sports Illustrated recently spoke with Finn Balor about a wide range of topics, including the rivalry between NXT and All Elite Wrestling. The former NXT Champion returned to the yellow brand on October 2nd and later turned heel; now, though, it seems he will be a permanent part of the promotion.
As a result, you'd best believe that he's fighting NXT's corner and when it comes to the Wednesday Night War, that's not something he's concerning himself with.
"I don’t know if we’re competing with anyone. The only person I’m competing with is myself from yesterday. I’m trying to be better than who I was yesterday. On this Wednesday, I’m going to be better than I was last Wednesday. That’s the way I approach life and that’s how I evolve. I don’t worry about what other people are doing. I’m focused on the brand I’m working for."
"People talk about going back to NXT," Balor continued. "For me, NXT is the purest form of wrestling on this planet in every sense. To be able to step in that ring and do what I do best, with no restrictions whatsoever, is the greatest honor I can have. So I’m treating this like an opportunity to help evolve as a performer and help change the game again."
You can't fault Balor for anything he's saying here and his remarks are far more measured than those made by the likes of Chris Jericho, Seth Rollins, and Kenny Omega in recent weeks. What do you guys think about these comments? Let us know in that in the usual place.
