Johnny Gargano Defeats Tomasso Ciampa In "One Final Beat" Match On NXT, Ending Their Legendary Feud

Although he had some help in the form of wife Candice LeRae and an elaborate ruse, Johnny Gargano managed to pin long-time friend turned bitter enemy Tommaso Ciampa in their "One Final beat" match on NXT.

Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa were supposed to settle their long-running feud at TakeOver: Tampa, but after the event was cancelled the match was pre-taped and aired as the main event of this week's episode of NXT on USA Network.

Did it live up to expectations? Well...

The bout itself was mostly very well put together, taking advantage of the pre-taped conditions to add a few cinematic flourishes. Both men beat the crap out of each other, and emotional engagement was high given everything these former friends have gone through together over the past three years.

The finish is sure to be divisive, however.

When it looked like neither Superstar could continue, Candice LeRae came out to the ring, told Ciampa that she "hated her husband now," and hit Gargano with a low blow. This prompted The Blackheart to apologize to Johnny, but it was all a ruse.

LeRae, who had handed her husband something before the match that turned out to be a cup to protect the family jewels, then kicked Tommaso in the nuts from the behind. This allowed Gargano to hit a Fairytale Ending on the exposed wood of the ring and pin his opponent, seemingly putting the feud to bed for good.

What did you guys think of the "One Final Beat" match? Did you expect Gargano to come out on top? Let us know in the comments.
