Three big matches were made for TNA’s upcoming special.
If Trick Williams thought Mike Santana and Joe Hendry were a problem then he has a bigger threat on his hands - Moose. On Thursday, the former X-Division Champion teamed with Eddie Edwards to take on A.J. Francis and TNA World Champion Trick Williams.
It all started when K.C. Navarro mistakenly hit Williams with his crutch, and Moose capitalized by hitting the TNA World Champion with a spear, which got him the three count. Moose will officially challenge Trick Williams for the belt on August 15.
Moose is arguably Williams’ toughest opponent to date. The 41-year-old is a former two-time world champion, with his TNA and Impact World title runs going over 150 days plus each. Moose is also a former X-Division and Grand Slam Champion. This will be Trick’s fifth title defense.
But that isn’t the only title match.
Leon Slater escaped with the X-Division title in a three way match against Cedric Alexander and Jason Hotch. Slater pinned Hotch in the exciting bout. However, he’ll go one-on-one against Alexander at Emergence. Alexander is notable for his time in WWE and is a former Cruiserweight Champion. Though he’s never won any belts in TNA, the former WWE star knows how to win the big one.
The final match was somewhat surprising.
Sami Callihan was thinking about his future on Impact. The former Impact World Champion was having doubts because of Moose. The former X-Division berated Callihan and flat out called him fat. The 37-year-old has been on a losing streak as of late and he’s questioning whether he should continue on with his career.
Sami Callihan went on to challenge Mike Santana on August 15. If Callihan can’t beat the recent TNA World Heavyweight title challenger then he feels that it could be time to hang up the boots for good.
Emergence is scheduled for August 15 at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Baltimore, Maryland, and it will air on the TNA+ app.
