Spoiler for anyone who doesn't want to know the results of the title vs. title match.
Giulia vs. Stephanie Vaquer has been made official for NXT Roadblock.
The news has definitely surprised fans and critics because both champions just won their titles. Though Giulia and Vaquer had formed a friendly rivalry throughout 2024/2025, the big title vs. title match feels too soon. And that’s for good reason. Apparently, the reasoning behind WWE’s booking for the match is due to one of the champions being injured.
Which champion is it? Giulia
Bryan Alvarez first confirmed the reasoning for the sudden match-up. PWInsider named the NXT Women’s Champion as the person injured. The extent of the injury is unknown, but she does intend to work NXT Roadblock. Following the big match, the 31-year-old will be taking some time off. It’s a shame that Giulia’s NXT run has to be cut so short since she just won the title back in January. In fact, Giulia has only two title defenses on record: The Fatal Four way at Vengeance Day with Bayley, Roxanne Perez, and Cora Jade and a Triple Threat match during a live event with Lola Vice and Wren Sinclair.
Plus, there are plenty of matches she’s yet to have. WWE fast tracking this match could mean that Stephanie’s time in development will be short-lived, though that’s pure speculation on my end as there are no rumors about her being called up anytime soon.
NXT has a stacked show for Road Block next month. Not only is there a title vs. title match taking place, but The Hardys will face Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom) for the TNA Tag Team Titles and Moose will challenge for the NXT Championship. This will take place on Tuesday, March 11th.
NXT still has a big Stand & Deliver show on April 19, so i'll be interesting to see how they'll top this card. Nevertheless, while it sucks that Giulia’s reign is being cut short, it’s hard to deny just how over Vaquer is with the fans, so ultimately, this is the right call.
