As first reported by PW Mania, “The Drifter” Elias Samson came up short during a "Loser Leaves NXT" match against the returning Kassius Ohno this past Wednesday night, and there are now whispers that this went down in order to move Samson up to the main roster.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio's Bryan Alvarez, this was all planned out to keep him off NXT television with a view to him eventually debuting on RAW, most likely the night after WrestleMania.

This is... surprising. While Samson is a talented performer (in the ring at least), he wasn't exactly "over" with the NXT crowds. Sure, they booed the hell out of him - but it always seemed like the wrong type of heat, and Samson was never pushed to any extent or engaged in any memorable feuds/angles. If he is coming to RAW one has to assume that's about to change, but it'll be very interesting to see how his Drifter gimmick goes down - unless the plan is to give his character a makeover, that is.

At any rate, this is still just a rumor for now - but if it does turn out to be accurate, what are your thoughts on Samson graduating to RAW? Sound off below.
