The TAKEOVER: IN YOUR HOUSE NXT Championship Match Will Now Be A Backlot Brawl

A gimmick was added to Sunday's NXT Championship match between Adam Cole and Velveteen Dream last night, as it was announced that the title would be contested in a Backlot Brawl at TakeOver: In Your House.

In keeping with the retro feel of NXT TakeOver: In Your House, the main event will now be a Backlot Brawl between The Velveteen Dream and NXT Champion Adam Cole.

The stipulation was added during last night's go-home edition of NXT, which featured a Prime Target video preview for the match. Cole and his Undisputed ERA buddies took a limo ride and had some dinner, while Dream asked his magic mirror who will be known as the greatest Heavyweight Champion of all time.

A Hollywood Backlot Brawl took place back in 1996 at WrestleMania 12 when Roddy Piper defeated Goldust in a hard-hitting encounter that played out in segments over the course of the show, culminating with both men making their way to the ring. We're not sure if Sunday's match will follow the same format, but we can probably expect a more cinematic feel than the usual falls count anywhere style fight.

We found out last week that if Velveteen Dream is unable to defeat Adam Cole for the NXT Championship, he'll never get another shot at the title.

Do you think it's time for a purple reign, or will the Panama City Playboy cement his legacy? Tune in this Sunday to find out.
