This week's episode of NXT featured a brutal Fight Pit steel cage match between former tag-team partners Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher, with the latter ultimately emerging victorious.

Riddle won their first encounter a couple of weeks ago with a quick roll-up pin, so Thatcher wanted to make sure that couldn't happen again by challenging him to a match that could only be won by submission or KO. We though it was going to be s standard steel cage, but what we actually got was closer to the Lion's Den Match Ken Shamrock competed in many years ago.

Both men traded heavy shots and holds in what turned out to be a vicious fight. Thatcher actually lost a couple of teeth (kayfabe... but very well done) early on, but regained his composure and ended up locking on a Rear Naked Choke to render The King of Bros unconscious and win the bout.

This was awesome, but we can't help feeling it should have been saved as the culmination of a longer feud between these two. Perhaps the recent news that Riddle will soon move to SmackDown forced their hand?
