Soon, the first-ever Interim NXT Cruiserweight Champion will be crowned.

On WWE’s The Bump, William Regal announced that a tournament will be held to crown an Interim Cruiserweight Champion. The reasoning stems from Jordan Devlin being unable to compete since he's stuck overseas. While there’s no date confirmed, when Devlin is able to travel again then he and the Interim champ will meet to crown the official title holder.

The NXT General manager didn’t list any participants or name the number of competitors that will fight for an opportunity to become the Interim NXT Cruiserweight Champion; however, Regal said he will provide more information in the coming days.

Devlin won the championship back in January at the Worlds Collide pay-per-view where he defeated Angel Garza, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, and Travis Banks to capture the belt. Surely, Scott will be in the tournament, though Garza coming back down to NXT for the tournament is also possible. A fun possiblity could see former Cruiserweight Champions Cedric Alexander, Drew Gulak, and Akira Tozawa compete as well.

Not surprisingly, Jordan Devlin wasn’t too pleased by the news:
