As previously reported, CM Punk is expected to be cleared to compete at some point next month after suffering a tricep injury during his AEW Championship match against Jon Moxley at All Out, and insiders believe he wants to return to All Elite Wrestling.
Punk hasn't confirmed as much himself, but he has been dropping some telling hints on social media, and his latest post has only added fuel to the fire.
Here's what he wrote about former WWE Superstar Steve Keirn/Skinner's new book.
"Best book about a fascinating man in a strange business since Bret [Hart] wrote his book. Great story about Gator [Keirn] and Koko [B. Ware] fighting in the locker room and then [Jerry] Lawler drags em in the office the next day and they squash it. Fascinating.”
Fascinating indeed.
Dave Meltzer addressed Punk's comments during the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
“What it says is that he wants back in. Which we’ve already known... other people have said that too, that he’s looking to get back in. It’s up to Tony [Khan] and Tony’s gonna make a decision at some point. He [Punk]’s probably just about ready, if not ready already, from the torn triceps, so it is one of those things that he can do soon enough.”
Things might be a bit tense for a while if and when Punk does return, but Khan would be insane to leave so much money on the table because of a few bruised egos (and black eyes), so we'd say there's a good chance we will see the "Best in the World" back in action fairly soon.
