A recent report indicated that CM Punk's widely-circulated Instagram rant about the likes of Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho may have hurt his chances of returning to All Elite Wrestling, and it sounds like Tony Khan may have actually agreed to make a deal... until the since-deleted post went viral!

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer claims that Khan did want Punk back, and the two sides, in principle, had agreed that he would return at some point - before all the drama.

“This came while sides were working on a reconciliation that was at least in principle agreed to, per the decision of Khan, who wanted him back. That would also seem to be behind the story that broke of an attempt to book the United Center for All Out this year, rather than the NOW Arena. Where things stand at this moment are unknown. There are tons of complicated issues involved and differences of opinions on the subject.”

It's worth noting that Meltzer has lost quite a bit of respect over the past couple of years (or longer, depending on who you ask), and it's widely believed that certain parties in AEW are feeding him "news" that help support their own narrative on this situation.

With that in mind, it's best not to put too much stock in this rumor until we learn more.
