If you watched AEW Dynamite this week, you couldn't have missed what appeared to be a botched referee call during the finish of "The Bastard" PAC and Trent match.

After PAC hit his Black Arrow from the top rope, the ref began his count but stopped before slapping the mat for a third time - even though Trent's shoulder hadn't moved. Upon noticing this, PAC immediately transitioned into a submission for the tap-out win.

Apparently, this was a simple case of miscommunication. Trent was originally supposed to kick out of the Black Arrow, but with a commercial break coming up, the decision was made to end the match a few seconds early to get the finish on camera. Nobody told the ref, though.

Referees are supposed to count falls as if they were officiating a legitimate competitive sport, so he most likely got most of the heat for this. If you missed the incident live, you can check it out in the player below.
