If you’ve been living under a rock for the past several days, Will Ospreay and Seth Rollins have been feuding back-and-forth on social media.
It all started when the Universal Champion claimed that WWE was the “
Best Pro Wrestling on the planet. Period.” The situation escalated from there as Rollins continued his rant by stating after the triple threat cruiserweight match,
“Doubling down. Best pro wrestling on the planet. See that Cruiserweight Triple Threat? And that's just one night, one match amongst the many. Find anyone else alive who does what I do as well as I do it as often as I do it. Ya can't.”
Ospreay responded by simply saying “I’m Alive” and the two have been trading shots since Sunday. Though, many feel that Rollins lost the battle when he responded to Ospreay’s tweet, which said, "
Fact of the day: Will Ospreay wrestled more matches in 2019 THAN @WWERollins Catch up little guy [kiss emoji]"'
The Universal champion brought up his bank account, with Ospreay responding with,
"You love adding stuff don't ya. I mean the original question was 'Find anyone else alive who does what I do as well as I do it as often as I do it' No talk of money. No talk of Ricochet. You said anyone. Here I am. Just as consistent, just as good. Hope the back heals up."
This little rivalry between Rollins and Ospreay may seem like a heated situation between the two athletes; however, according to Will Ospreay, his exchange with the WWE star was nothing malicious (transcript courtesy of wrestlinginc.com):
“Right, it’s a bit of banter isn’t it? I don’t think it’s anything malicious behind it at all. I just feel like the question he asked is, ‘Find me someone alive that does the same type of schedule I do, that can do what I can do’. All I just said was, ‘I’m alive’. I am, I’m very much alive and the things that make me laugh more about it is he brought in Ricochet to try and tear me down."
Ospreay feels that Rollins is a bit bothered by the fact that his IWGP Jr. Heavyweight title is more prestigious that the Universal championship:
"It’s like you brought in another person to… you don’t have to -- you just have to be like, ‘Oh okay, maybe we can have a match one day’ but I think the thing is, maybe it just gets under his skin that my championship, my Junior Championship means more than his Universal Championship. I don’t know. Who knows? It’s factual.”
Will Ospreay is set for the G1 Climax 29 tournament and Seth Rollins will defend his Universal Title in a Mixed Tag match at Extreme Rules where both his title and Becky Lynch's RAW Women's championship will be on the line.
