This past weekend was a big one for TNA Wrestling.
The promotion kicked off the week by announcing their long term partnership with WWE and TNA successfully held their Genesis pay-per-view on Sunday. Genesis had the happy ending of Joe Hendry finally winning the TNA World Championship. Of course, there was some controversy over the re-debut of Tessa Blanchard, but there’s actually bigger news coming out of the weekend: PCO.
While TNA held their annual pay-per-view, PCO was fighting on The People vs. GCW event that saw the debut of former WWE United States Champion Baron Corbin (who is going by his real name of Tom Pestock). However, the former WWE star’s debut was overshadowed by PCO, who smashed the TNA Digital Media Championship with a sledgehammer after winning a battle royal. Then, PCO went into a rant about selling out TNA arenas before he was cut off.
During the pay-per-view, it came across as an angle, but according to PWInsider, this was real. GCW officials were under the impression that this was a storyline angle, until they confirmed that the segment was not cleared by TNA management.
As you can imagine, TNA officials were pissed. Fightful Select detailed that PCO’s contract actually ended in late 2024, but TNA planned on having him finish up on the next set of tapings. There’s speculation on why PCO went into business for himself, but the 57-year-old vented out some of his frustration on social media.
Thus far, the only person in TNA that has spoken out about the incident is Tommy Dreamer on Busted Open Radio.
"I was told what happened when I got off the panel, and I was like, 'Okay. Guess he went PCO-crazy,'" Dreamer said. "Move forward and pivot. [It was] not an angle — just something that happened.”
PCO isn’t expected back in TNA. As far as the TNA Digital Media title, the Fightful report states that PCO destroyed the replica belt, so the actual belt itself wasn’t harmed.
