The Northern Armory is no more!
This past Thursday's TNA Impact! Had several surprises including Eric Young turning on his faction mates. It came after the Joe Hendry vs. Travis Williams match that saw the former TNA World Champion get the better of Williams after Young and Judas Icarus were forced to leave ringside.
Young was furious. He berated Williams then went for his signature piledriver, but Icarus stopped him. Then Eric commanded that Judas finish the job. But he couldn’t. So Young decked him with a right hand and gave him a piledriver. He gave him another piledriver for good measure. He also gave Williams two piledrivers. Hannifan questioned if Young cleansed the Northern Armory? So it’s quite possible that this might end up being another abusive leader/follower scenario like Legacy. Or that was the official break-up. We’ll find out next week.
The Northern Armory faction actually began under Josh Alexander’s rule. The faction formed in October 2024 to feud with Steve Maclin and Eric Young. That rivalry would come full circle on February 1, 2025. Williams and Icarus turned on Josh a week prior, and Young came out to save the former Impact World Champion from his Northern Armory stable mates. But Young ended up turning on Josh in their tag team match and The Northern Armory 2.0 has been running amok the TNA locker room ever since. It’s not clear where the group goes from here, but Alexander was the prime reason that Williams and Icarus had a job within the promotion (Transcript courtesy of Fightful).
“When I came into TNA, Ethan Page had already been here for a year to help be the buffer to lead me through whatever trials and tribulations were to come working on TV, the timing of certain things, and stuff that is different from independent wrestling. I’ve been able to get my word in with management on a few people. I’ve put over so many people over the past three or four years to get contracts in this company, and a lot of them didn’t. Judas and Travis were guys I’ve been championing for a long time.” Josh told Straight Talk Wrestling.
When Motor City Machine Guns [Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin] were slated to leave, I was posed the question of who can replace them? The simple answer is no one. How do you replace the most iconic tag team in TNA history? One of the most influential tag teams in all of pro wrestling history? You can’t. Judas and Travis are supremely talented and they’ve shown it on the independents over the years. I just knew there was something there. Above and beyond all of that, they’re really good kids. They have good heads on their shoulders, they’re professional, they are passionate about pro wrestling, which is everything I love and want to see. I had no problem sticking my neck out to try to get them in here.”
Hopefully, Thursday was the final time that these three are together. It was time to freshen up the act as The Northern Armory had felt stale for the last couple of months.
