JDC is going to be out for a while.
Last week, the former WWE star tried to come out and stop an attack from the Order 4, but he was shut down by Agent zero. This week, it was confirmed that JDC would be out indefinitely due to a head injury thanks to a chokeslam on a steel chair.
Now it’s not clear if this is a work or not. There’s no reports on the actual reasoning that JDC is out of commission, so this could be a simple sell job. Should more news come out about the injury then we’ll update everyone on it.
The man formerly known as Fandango has been working for TNA/Impact since 2022. The 42-year-old came in under the name of Dirty Dango at Bound For Glory and accepted Brian Myers' open challenge for the now defunct Impact Media Digital Championship. He ultimately lost that match, but officials were impressed by Dango and signed him to a full time contract in 2023.
Fast forward to May 23 and Dango would turn heel after it was discovered that he was the one who attacked Santino Marella. He would align himself with The System a month later and changed his name to Johnny “Dango” Curtis aka JDC. Since then, JDC has been fighting alongside Moose, Eddie Edwards, and Brian Myers. Recently, the heel group turned babyface and actually managed to get a win over WWE’s Darkstate.
Since then, JDC has been mixing it up on both the indies and TNA. He’s coming off an Explosive win over Captain Canada. He also locked horns with Trick Williams and First Class alongside his System members Brian Myers and Eddie Edwards.
He made a brief return to NXT earlier this year and it was an emotional one for him.
“Yeah, it’s a weird hodgepodge because obviously, I do have equity in WWE. I was there 15 years.” He said on Busted Open. “I played that (Fandango) character for five, seven years. So I think if we completely forget about that and didn’t really touch on that, it would be kind of weird in a way. No pun intended. So I think it was a weird hodgepodge between the character that I used to play and segueing into my new character now, J.D.C., and to your question, it was very emotional for me.
I was nervous because I didn’t know how they would react; the fans. You know, nervous going into the Performance where I worked there for years and you haven’t seen some of these guys and girls for four or five years. It was a little nerve-racking but emotional because the reaction was really great and the promo segment was really awesome and I got a lot of respect for Lexis King. I think he’s gonna be a huge star in the business. So all in all, it was just a really emotional and fantastic day for me."
As previously mentioned, we’ll keep you updated if more information comes out about his injury or possible return date.
