Laredo Kid isn’t the only TNA wrestler leaving the promotion.
It’s just been confirmed that TNA has put two wrestlers in the alumni section - Laredo Kid and Octagon Jr. Now Kid has already come out and confirmed that he was no longer signed to the promotion, but Octagon Jr. has been rather silent.
Octagon Jr. wasn’t particularly a big part of the TNA roster. In fact, the former TNA star only had five matches in the promotion this year. Octagon Jr was brought in as a tag team partner for Kid as the duo was known as the Aztec Warriors.
Octagon Jr’s final match was a four way tag team bout in May where he teamed with Kid in a number one contender’s match to determine the next challengers for the prestigious TNA World Tag Team titles. The Rascalz ended up winning that match. Like Kid, Octagon Jr. is a mainstay in AAA Lucha Libre, so him no longer being in TNA is not a huge deal to the luchador.
Though Octagon Jr. has been fighting alongside Laredo Kid in the Mexican promotion, he’s been mostly used as a singles star in AAA and one of the bigger names during the cross promotion with WWE. Octagon Jr. competed at both AAA x WWE World’s Collide shows and he was the first AAA star to compete in WWE soil as he fought Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship at Money in the Bank.
It’s unknown if Octagon Jr. actually had a deal with TNA or if he was simply just a loan from AAA. The 34-year-old has competed sporadically in TNA since 2019. He came in from AAA as Golden Magic, but only had three matches in 2019.
He returned for one match in 2023 where Octagon Jr. teamed with former TNA World Champion Josh Alexander. Octagon Jr’s priority has never been in TNA Wrestling and with the recent partnership between AAA and WWE, it appears that his focus is down in the Lucha Libre promotion as he's been steadily competing there. Of course, this doesn’t mean he can’t return in the future, but it does seem as if the partnership is over for now.
