Earlier this week, the news broke that Alexa Bliss and her husband Ryan Cabrera are expecting their first child this December.
Recently, talk of the former Women's Champion returning to in-ring action has heated up, but the happy news for the couple obviously closes the door on any sort of comeback until 2024. Now, Bliss has shared an update with fans while speaking to The Messenger.
"I was preparing for my return in the ring and I was just having really bad cramping," she explains. "I thought that was weird."
Adding that she initially took time off to be part of FOX's Masked Singer, Bliss would go on to say that her pregnancy means WWE has extended her contract (which is often the case when a Superstar is injured or put on the shelf for an indefinite amount of time).
"[WWE] extended my contract, and so it's just basically come back when I'm ready," Bliss notes. "Probably a month after the baby, I'll start probably getting back into the gym, and getting ready for to see what my in-ring return looks like."
If Bliss begins preparing in January, then that makes WrestleMania a possibility.
However, we certainly wouldn't bank on that and could be waiting a long time to see her step back into the squared circle. This also likely derails any plans WWE had to pair Bliss up with Bray Wyatt following his return last year.
Along with the debut of Uncle Howdy - thought to be Wyatt's real-life brother Bo Dallas - WWE teased appearances from a whole new Wyatt Family. There were some petty strong hints that Bliss was going to reunite with Bray prior to her disappearance, but those must have since been abandoned.
Once again, we wish Bliss all the best with her pregnancy and look forward to seeing her back in WWE.
