Rob "Gronk" Gronkowski Is Officially Done With WWE Following His 24/7 Championship Loss

As was expected following the news that he's returning to the NFL, Rob Gronkowski's aspirations to become a wrestler have gone out the window, and he's now done with WWE after losing the 24/7 title.

It's hard to find a wrestling fan anywhere who was excited about Rob Gronkowski becoming a WWE Superstar, especially after some cringe-worthy appearances on SmackDown, and a forgettable effort at hosting WrestleMania

Recently, it was reported that the ex-football player has decided to return to the NFL to play in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers alongside Tom Brady, and that immediately put his WWE future in doubt. Now, though, it's been confirmed by Wrestling Inc.'s Raj Giri that a clause in his contract means he has officially parted ways with WWE.

This was to be expected, of course, but the company is bound to be disappointed. After all, there were reportedly plans in place for him to make his proper in-ring debut at SummerSlam in Boston where he either would have faced Mjor Rawley or teamed up with him (the former seems more likely after what happened between the two real-life friends at WrestleMania).

Not that it's likely to happen, but "Gronk" won't be able to work for another wrestling promotion for a specified period of time. However, it's thought the two parties remain on good terms, so chances are he will return one day (sorry) or after his NFL career is fully at an end.
