It's been confirmed today that WWE has suspected NXT UK Superstar Joe Coffey after allegations were made against him as part of the #SpeakingOut movement. This isn't a massive surprise given the nature of the claims being made, and WWE clearly believes there's something to them to take measures such as these.
In related news, the company has also released (a.k.a. fired) two referees: Joel Allen and Chris Roberts. They were also named when the #SpeakingOut allegations started doing the rounds, and now join Jack Gallagher, Ligero, and Travis Banks as those who have been let go from WWE because of these allegations.
According to WrestlingNews.co, Triple H held a conference call yesterday to talk to NXT UK's roster about the sexual abuse allegations, and made it clear that there's going to be no tolerance for anyone found to have acted inappropriately. Despite claims that WWE is planning to close NXT UK down (it succeeded in closing down ITV's World of Sport which was the whole reason WWE launched it).
It remains to be seen whether NXT UK survives, but this scandal has certainly hurt the UK-based wrestling industry. We'll be sure to keep you guys updated, as more is bound to be revealed sooner rather than later.
