Tessa Blanchard won’t be featured on the upcoming tapings of Impact Wrestling.
Back in May, the Impact World Champion was unable to participate in the Nashville, Tennessee tapings, and the third-generation star was originally set to defend the belt against Eddie Edwards and Michael Elgin in a three-way contest.
An eight-man single elimination tournament has been set in order to determine the next #1 contender for the Impact World Champion; however, Blanchard won’t be defending the belt anytime soon due to being stuck in Mexico, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.
The travel restrictions to and from Mexico were extended until June 22, with AEW stars Pentagon Jr., Jack Evans, and Angelico also unavailable for upcoming AEW shows until further notice. Impact’s Slammiversary pay-per-view is usually around this time, though the company has yet to officially confirm the location or date of the big show due to the coronavirus situation.
There’s no word on whether officials are contemplating on taking the championship off of Blanchard if there's another extension, though the decision to bring back the defunct TNA World Heavyweight Championship was made to temporarily take place of the Impact World Title. Either Ace Austin or Trey Miguel will become the next challenger for Blanchard's title on tonight’s episode.
