Tessa Blanchard has been terminated from her contract with Impact Wrestling and stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship.
Impact released a statement to PWInsider, which simply confirms the news without specifying any reasons. “Impact Wrestling confirmed that it has terminated its relationship with Tessa Blanchard and stripped her of the Impact Wrestling World Championship.”
Although no explanation is given here, it's not difficult to determine why Blanchard was fired. Tessa hadn't appeared in Impact TV since the COVID-19 pandemic began, and her contract was set to expire before next month's Slammiversary PPV. She was advertised to defend her title in a 4-way against Trey Miguel, Eddie Edwards and Ace Austin, however, and reportedly failed to send in promo footage for a recent episode of Impact to promote the bout.
This is said to have landed the 24-year-old in hot water, and it probably didn't help that she recently found herself at the center of a lot of controversy surrounding alleged bullying behavior and racist insults.
Impact hasn't announced its plans for the title, but we assume a fourth member will be added to the Slammiversary match with the winner being crowned new Heavyweight Champion.
