Rhino is done with TNA Wrestling.
The former ECW World Heavyweight Champion has been with the company on and off for over 20 years. However, TNA has been his mainstay since 2019, where Rhino was inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame and he even got a run with the Tag Team titles on two separate occasions.
However, the man beast himself has confirmed that he will be finishing up with the company this weekend:
This seems like an amicable split between TNA and Rhino. For the most part, the company has treated him with respect and given Rhino some solid television time. But there was clearly a glass ceiling for Rhino and the former ECW World Heavyweight Champion has done everything that he wants to do at his level. However, that isn't to say that Rhino hasn't had a good career in TNA as he's won both the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and Impact World Tag Team titles. He's also had several notable feuds against AJ Styles, James Storm, Raven, Abyss, Christian Cage, and Bobby Lashley.
There’s no word on where Rhino could end up next. It’s likely that he will make appearances for numerous indie promotions. There’s even the possibility that he’ll end up in WWE. Rhino did say during an interview with Denise Salcedo on Instinct Culture that he’ll slowly transition from wrestler to producer within five years.
“God willing, I can have five more years in the wrestling business. I want to slowly taper off, and then move more to the behind-the-scenes as a producer and stuff. You know, so that’s the thing.
“A compass will always tell you to go north, but it doesn’t tell you the hills and valleys and lakes and ponds and all that. So you have to go around it. So my goal is five years, and then slowly and then work, go around the hills and valleys and stuff and get to that point, and along the way work with people and try to help boost their careers and, and help get them on the journey or the path, that they’re supposed to take.”
Given his level of experience in wrestling, Rhino would make a great producer. The 49-year-old was one of the ECW originals who made an appearance during NXT’s special nostalgia show, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he ends up there. Here’s wishing Rhino luck whenever he goes next!
