After months of build-up (including a pretty wild press conference brawl), Floyd "Money" Mayweather faced off against YouTuber Logan "The Maverick" Paul last night in an exhibition fight which ended up surprising us all by going the distance.
Of course, Mayweather is still undefeated, but Paul did give a pretty good account of himself... depending on your perspective.
Though the bout did go the full eight rounds and Paul got a couple of shots in, the consensus was that Mayweather could have finished off his opponent at any time and simply wanted to give fans a decent show. The much larger Paul certainly showed his inexperience (arrogance?) by boxing most of the match with his hands down, all-but inviting Floyd to land a knockout blow.
That never came (Mayweather was never really known for his stopping power, anyway), but there was no question who the winner was when the final bell rang.
Still, even if Mayweather was "playing with his food" as announcer Mauro Ranallo put it, props do need to go to Paul, who actually landed more shots on Floyd than Connor McGregor did when he faced "Money" back in 2017.
